Join us on Wednesday, October 12 at 2PM ET as our in-house PSASP expert and operations Support Manager, Sue Greentree, gives her insights into the PSAP request for proposal process with our panel. If you attended our September roundtable discussion on September 14 with Maryland State Senator Cheryl Kagan, you’ve heard that there are several programs where public safety and small businesses can apply for and receive federal funding for cybersecurity needs.
To receive these funds specifically from the Infrastructure and Jobs Act of 2021, there are steps that businesses and organizations must follow to be approved, including these outlines:
How the applicant will manage, monitor, and track information systems, applications, and user accounts they own or operate.
How the applicant will monitor, audit, and track network activity traveling to and from information systems, applications, and user accounts.
How the applicant will enhance the preparation, response, and resiliency of information systems, applications, and user accounts against cybersecurity threats.
How the applicant will implement continuous vulnerability assessments and threat mitigation to address cybersecurity threats to information systems, applications, and user accounts.
Both public safety entities and businesses must present proposals for the usage of funds with plan cybersecurity training, monitoring, remediation and other plans to mitigate cybercrimes.
In addition to this month’s roundtable discussion, download and watch our webinar from earlier this year on Creating Cyber Resilience that provides more information and resources on this topic:
Major student loan service provider, Nelnet, said its system was compromised for nearly two months this past summer due to a data breach. The data breach leaked personal information for potentially up to 2.5 million borrowers, including some who have loans from the Oklahoma Student Loan Authority. Names, email and mailing addresses, as well as social security numbers may have been compromised.
