If you haven't heard, October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. That means if cybersecurity hasn’t been a priority for you, now is the time to start taking the critical steps towards protecting your network.

CISA's theme for Cybersecurity Month in 2022 is 'See Yourself in Cyber.' That means finding ways to positively impact you and your organization's cyber posture by following cyber hygiene best practices.

People in your organization, including you, are the front line of your cyber defense. 

One of the most common ways cyber attackers can get into your network is through social engineering and phishing.

Data Breach

The Los Angeles Unified School District had a data breach exposing 248,000 files on the dark web including SSNs, contracts, invoices, passports, and more. 

The district is refusing to pay the ransom set by the attacker but one CTO was quoted as saying: "In the case of LAUSD, I applaud the department’s moral and ethical stance, but it’s important to note that this decision will still incur costs in the form of data leakage and cleanup, making it difficult to determine it as ‘the best approach."
