According to the Identify Theft Resource Center (ITRC) the number of data breaches in 2021 exceeded 2020’s totals back in October. The average ransomware payment rose 82% to a record of $570,000 in the first half of 2021, up from $312,000 in 2020. Supply chain attacks also rose in the first quarter by 42% in the previous year, impacting up to seven million people, according to research from the ITRC. 

It is evident that cyberattacks are on the rise and will continue to be a growing threat in 2022 and beyond as cyber actors become increasingly more sophisticated and stealth in implementing their methodologies. Mission -critical infrastructures, including supply chains, manufacturing, health care, education and more, are becoming more vulnerable targets as a way for threat-actors to infiltrate networks, steal data, and shutdown other systems as part of a larger attack.
