Prioritize Cybersecurity With a Plan to Secure Funds

Prioritizing cybersecurity is a big first step to building cyber resiliency. Being able to secure funding and resources for cybersecurity goes a long way towards planning and being resilient to cyber threats and attacks. There are several resources for you to utilize to secure the type of funding that will go into your plans to create better resiliency.

The SBA announced $3 million in cybersecurity funding to help small businesses develop their cyber security infrastructure. Funding started at $200 million in 2022 and will grow to $400 million in 2023.

In order to secure any funding for your cybersecurity needs, you need a strong proposal of your plans to increase your resiliency and utilize the funding for those needs.

Your proposal needs to show that you can:

1. Prioritize spending in high-risk areas
2. Quantify cyber risk financially
3. Justify funding with risk-based metrics
4. Spread awareness of the impact of cyber attacks nationwide

Lancaster County, Nebraska 6/28/22
Cyber Attack

Lancaster County, Nebraska was one of several states to see the official unemployment website to go down for several days due to a cyber attack on third party solutions vendor, Geographic Solutions, Inc. State labor exchange and unemployment claims systems were taken offline. It was several days before everything was back online and officials believed no user data was compromised, but this attack took down systems across 10 or more states.
